What to expect from the course

What’s behind the idea of ‘The Joker’? The desire to make a movement stand out. Breaking the rules. Going against the crowd. Allowing for humour to be part of the dance.

The course explores group composition through a series of guided improvised dances. Over the weekend each individual will be encouraged to find and use their ‘wild card’, their unique way of standing out.

Each session will introduce an idea to explore together. We will try out different creative avenues, view each other dancing and discuss the meanings that emerge.

The course is aimed at giving the participants a set of tools to use when they dance, as well as offer new ways of watching dance.
