Sussex Dance Network Members are invited to help local choreographer Katie Dale-Everett research her new work ‘Empa’ supported by Studio Wayne McGregor and Arts Council England National Lottery funding.
This workshop is for anybody and everybody no matter your age and experience.
Photographer: Jane Russell
About the workshop
The workshop will explore how we relate, respond, learn about and teach others about our selves. Please bring a significant object, photograph and another photograph of you when you were younger. Depending on the research outcomes of Katie Dale-Everett Dance’s first five days of research and development prior to this workshop, the workshop may or may not involve the use of technology. Please note photographs and film will be taken.
About Empa
This research is an acknowledgement of the fact that how we perceive people is not necessarily how they feel/see themselves. It is an enquiry into how technology can help bridge the gap for the better, increasing intimacy and understanding and enable us to see others and self more truthfully, differently and clearly. It explores in the moment choreographic decision, action and response, questions vulnerability and openness and explores internal and external in a literal and embodied senses. It investigates commonalities and differences and researches if there’s a discrepancy in appearance and feeling. It helps to find opportunities for technology to connect people in a world where often it removes us from others.
