Our contact improvisation group organises classes, open jams and workshops which are open to all bodies, no matter of experience.
We will start with a short Feldenkrais class to explore and clarify the function of the spiral, as powerful and fundamental principle of human movement. We will experience how the spiral can support us to find trust, clarity and effortlessness in our Contact dance.
Simonetta is an Italian dance artist based in London. She has been practicing, performing teaching Contact for more than 20 years. She is qualified teacher of the Feldenkrais Method and she holds a P.G. Diploma in Choreography from London Contemporary Dance School, a T.C. from Royal Academy of Dance. She teaches at Trinity Laban, London Contemporary Dance School and Goldsmiths University. She has been a guest teacher in more than ten countries.
Contact improvisation is an open-ended exploration of two or more bodies moving while sharing physical contact. By offering a regular space for learning and practicing the form we aim to gather and share the evolving practice of contact improvisation and its practitioners. As there are different approaches to learning and practicing CI classes would vary. All classes are led by experienced teachers from inside and around the region.
- The class will start with a 1.5-hour class followed by a 1 hour jam
- The jam will start with a 30 minute guided warm-up followed by a 2 hour jam
Both sessions are open to all levels and no previous experience is required.
