MotherR/DaughteR: A practical workshop exploring the intricate relationships between mothers and daughters.

Using verbatim text, and movement, we will be negotiating the complexities present in families and specifically between mothers and daughters, and how they communicate and navigate through difficult conversations.

Over two days you will be invited to work with a written text – a letter to your mother or your daughter, expressing something you want to tell them, but never have. In a safe and trusting environment, we will look at themes and emotions and how they can be expressed with our bodies and movement. On the second day we will be joined by professional dancers who will work alongside us to create an interpretation of the letter.

Using methods and techniques from verbatim theatre, we will devise material which will be honest and powerful, and will tell a story of an emotional bond.
