Here but Elsewhere
Here but Elsewhere was inspired by the Lockdown Diaries creative submission by Vicki Crowther.
Here in my home
I can think anything I want
I can do anything I want
The bidden thoughts come in
But like a spider’s web buffeted in a gale
They float out of reach
The unbidden thoughts rampage
They are unlocked, unchannelled
They travel fast hither and thither
Unable to be challenged to render them
To some predetermined format
No, they will plunge you into the deep waters of the grotesque at worst, the fantastical at best
Who is in charge?
Who can make sense?
Who can bring back the process of calm, steady pathways of restrained thought?
The staircase of barriers
Will not stop you falling into the void
That lies deep in the recesses of your mind
You can think anything you want
You can do anything you want
But you are never in control
