When: 5th, 12th, 19th & 26th of June
Charlotte’s class is based on a strong belief that dancing is a highly physical, and highly intelligent art – but most importantly, it is fun. Emphasis is placed on the body as sensory and tactile as we move between set material, experiential exercises and improvised scores. Movement grows from the ground, supporting organization and clarity through developmental movement patterns. These basic patterns – help us find connections that can sustain us as we dance. If time allows we will play within the grounds of some of Charlotte’s new choreographic interests.
Charlotte Spencer works as a choreographer, facilitator, curator and occasional performer. As artistic director of Charlotte Spencer Projects, she works across art forms and predominantly in outdoor environmental contexts. Her Walking Stories – an audio walk for parks has toured extensively nationally and internationally since 2013 and Is this a Waste Land?, which invites a reimagining of urban landscapes, was part of Dance Umbrella and Dance International Glasgow in 2017.
Charlotte was a Sadler’s Wells Summer University artist 2015-18 and Associate Artist at Greenwich Dance 2014-18. She has worked closely with Siobhan Davies Dance since 2010 on various projects. Commissions have come from Greenwich Dance & Trinity Laban, Salisbury International Art Festival, Jerwood Gallery, Turner Contemporary & Siobhan Davies Dance amongst others.
